About CIS

The Central Inspection System has been implemented by the Government of Tamil Nadu to ensure timely and synchronized inspections among various departments i.e. Directorate of Industrial Safety and Health, Labour Department, Boilers Department, and Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board. This system is aimed to ensure mutual information sharing among these departments and enable departments to plan their inspections effectively.

The Central Inspection System (CIS) is a critical enabler in the “Ease of Doing Business” framework that aims to achieve the objective of simplifying business regulations and bring in transparency and accountability in inspections. The key features of the CIS are summarized below:

  • It will aid in streamlining the inspection procedures of select departments in the State of Tamil Nadu
  • It will ensure timely and synchronized inspections between various departments
  • It will bring clarity in inspections, its frequency and reduce duplications, where applicable
  • It will improve cooperation and coordination between inspection authorities
  • It will enable unified review of information about past inspections, schedule of inspections, and access to inspection report of all concerned Competent Authorities.
